...he bolted from the car and out into a field of tall grass that hid his legs and she thought he'd gone crazy. And then he dropped into the grass and all she could see were his arms raised to the blue sky. Then he screamed, and the sound of it hit her in the chest like a spear and he kept screaming and screaming like a dying thing. She'd never heard anything scream like that before.
